I just bought the Spantik for my 2010 trip. Break-in hike on Shasta this weekend at about 18* and my feet were almost too warm. I also plan on the lighter overboot from 40 Below for above 14 camp. Scott

Do you think overboots are necessary with the spatniks? i was hoping if i dropped the coin for spatniks I could skip the overboots.

The company I am going with reccommended the lighter overboots. I am thinking I will bring them along for the climb above 14 camp. I wil be climbing this weekend in potentially sub-zero temps as another shakedown hike so I will get a better fweel for the temp range of the boots. Scott
