I'd love to post a photo of myself climbing up Whiteface Mountain (ADKS) in the middle of January wearing jeans and sneakers with downhill skis sticking out of my backpack ... but I was so poor back then that I didn't even own a camera. :)

The ridiculous mop of hair, and the 5lb boots are interesting memories. Note there are trees as high as the 40' pinnacle.

Chimney is, to my knowledge, the only mountain the Adirondacks, with significant prominence, that requires a class 4 climb for the true summit.

Damn fine thread. Here's some chronologically.

Dad behind the camera in the Windriver Range, Wyoming. 1983.

On Hayden Peak, Uinta Mountains, 1993.

We'll skip the 2003 photos, as I held down the floor at 235 + lbs back then. Skipping forward to August of 2009, my son Hayden and I descending his first summit at age six. (I named him after the summit above.)

Belaying at the top of Hide-a way chimney at the Vedauwoo, Wyoming about 1977. The Vedauwoo area is ancient granite with big coarse crystals and is 20 minutes from the University of Wyoming. We took climbing 101, etc as gym option courses.
Typical starving student wear for day was blue jeans and cotton shirts. That is a used goldline rope bought for $25. The white leather roper gloves were leftover from the farm/ranch.
