This is not a big deal. I am inquiring only out of curiosity. Two of the comments on my recently posted Peck Hill page were posted back on the 18th of March. This morning I found they had moved up to the top of my most recent comments, though the dates afixed to them had not changed. They remain dated from several days ago but show up on top of posts made only two days ago. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?

It's an evil elf conspiracy, dude. It's part of their plan to rule the world and turn the internet into a fascist dictatorship, beginning by moving your comments. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

That sometimes happens when people edit their comments.

I have occasionally come across a comment of mine that had a typo or a remark that was no longer relevant to the submission (like a suggestion for a change that the owner later made) and then edited my comment.

I think the second quotation mark should come before the period, not after it. You may want to edit that.

I have occassionally edited comments...typically the ones I have posted late night on weekends and I had my "beer goggles" on at the time of posting.

Let's not forget the "wine and cheese" goggles!
