Buttermilk Road (Bishop)

How close to the Basin Mountain trailhead can I get with a Toyota Camry? I've never been back there and would like to know how far I'll have to walk.

the road gets worse every year - and with recent rains the farther you go the worse it will get - up there over the weekend and the biggest obstacles were people parked in the middle of the road assuming they had gone as far as a car could

It is a matter of knowing how to drive these roads- - and a matter of knowing when to turn back- I don't know if the road is ever grated past the boulders

And its more sporting to start as far down the valley as possible - that 5,000 feet goes up quick-

good luck - Id be up for couloir and rock at the top - we can switch leads or go for it yerself, but I don't feel comfortable going ropeless - tried and bailed - I like how I just invited myself
