5/31 Saint Helens Conditions

by COTrekker02 » Fri May 20, 2011 3:15 am

Headed to WA to climb Rainier June 1-4 and want to climb Saint Helens a couple days prior. Planning to spend the night at Lone Fir the night prior. I'm assuming snow will cover a majority of the Monitor Ridge route at this time, but not sure if I will be able to drive all the way to the turnaround on rd 830. Info would be appreciated. If you can't reach the "summer TH" in a vehicle how far can you get? Appreciate the help.

Beware - that last report is dated Dec 13, 2010.

The road gate to Climber's Bivoc will likely be CLOSED. The next nearest trailhead will be Marble Mtn... and that should be open. The old lodge there burned down a couple of months back.
