Did you try: http://www.gipfelbuch.ch - not a perfect site , but you find some comments about conditions in the area, at least for swiss mountains.

Indeed, this is one of the best. In the last 2 years, I noticed that reports from Austria/Germany dropped off after this site (http://www.alpine-auskunft.at/) came online. Thanks Gert!

If someone can point to the best Italian site for the Dolomites current conditions that would be super helpful...

Sure, you're completely right. It is priceless when for example planning a trip to Scotland or Romania someone there is able to tell me the level of remaining snow for the season. And not making pages doesn't mean not belonging to what makes that site so special. What I like here is that most members certainly discovered and registered to SP while looking for remote information, and we are all somehow a community of mountaineer-travelers.
However who doesn't get a certain satisfaction building a page of an unrepresented peak with, coming back with good material after the trip ! (And who amongst the common page makers never made a specific photo thinking "that could illustrate well that thing on SP" :) )
About conditions, the "problem" of Europe is that it is too multilingual and multicultural, as you surely know. Your point of view and analysis are interesting as very few other people here lived on both "new" and "old" world. I think every country, or talking more "mountainously", each range is just too specific, so you just need to find the best local resource for each.
