Steamboat conditions

by mountainal » Wed Jul 06, 2011 6:54 am

Hi everybody, Just curious about the snow and trail conditions around steamboat. I imagine most of the snow is gone. Curious specifically about the devils causeway and rabbit ears pass if anyone knows. Thanks. Oh, and does anyone know of a nice but open (low vegetation) trail / hike to do under the full moon coming the weekend of 16/17th.

Was there over the weekend. Overview is much snow as you approach 10,000 ft, in some areas down to 9,500. Heard from local sources that the trail to Gilpin Lake has 8 feet of snow in places, as of last week. South facing Rabbit Ears area is mostly snow free. Streams running extremely high.
Can't help you with the hike, only place we hiked was Fish Ck Falls Tr and it's mostly in thick forest.
