Scarpa Inverno for Verticle Ice

by lzpup » Thu Feb 16, 2012 5:48 am

New to Verticle Ice, to a pair of Invernos cheap. I had a lot of heal lift , is this to be expected with a double boot? Anything i can do to make it better. Boots were great on the approach and my feet were toasty warm.

You should not have heel lift. This can be corrected by using different sock combinations, lacing systems, pads around the heel. Scarpas also tend to fit a wider foot. La Sportivas tend to fit a narrower foot.

I don't know of a way to completely stop heel lift in Invernos. The boots are so stiff, and the lacing system can't hold the instep back.

That said, you can certainly reduce it. I would start here:

Also, mess with insoles, socks, and lacing. I don't think it's a sign of boot fitting failure if your heel loses contact with the footbed, but you should be able to at least get it to it JUST loses contact without too much trouble.
