Deadly Booby Traps on Utah Trail

Postby SeanReedy » Tue Apr 24, 2012 6:07 pm

http://www.mercurynews.com/nation-world/ci_20465211/deadly-booby-traps-found-utah-trail-2-held: A deadly booby trap rigged along a popular Utah trail could have killed someone if they had tripped a ground wire set up to send a 20-pound, spiked boulder swinging into an unsuspecting hiker, authorities said Monday. Another trap was designed to trip a passer-by into a bed of sharpened wooden stakes, authorities said....
:o

I would not have expected to need to watch out for traps, especially along a popular hiking trail.

I go biking on the Big Springs trail all the time! Sigh...now I suppose I will have to add traps to the things to the dangers of the mountains along with spiders, mountain lions, bears, and snakes. Ugh...I feel sick...

Besides the usual suspects mentioned, don't forget to watch out for Nazis and natives.

Keep an eye out for this guy too: http://www.inyoregister.com/node/2364. Some thought he was from the polygamist enclave of Hilsdale/Colorado City, but it turns out he has a history in the Inyo County/Death Valley realm. He seems to roam a lot in areas popular with SPers. Northern Utah could be next! http://www.summitpost.org/phpBB3/militant-loner-in-so-utah-t61350.html

Arizona must be too arid and too hot for these guys. I fried two eggs on the sidewalk today, and the only element missing was Kevin Bacon.

For crying out loud ..

Of course, the only thing to fear is fear itself ... no need to get paranoid ...

I just read in Sunday's Salt Lake Tribune, that one of the men was recently sentenced to 30 days in jail and 18 months of probation and the other got 20 days in jail and 1 year of probation.

Sounds like the Canadian justice system.
Bring a compass. It's awkward when you have to eat your friends
