Shasta Casaval Ridge conditions

by kaiwaldron » Fri Feb 15, 2013 4:43 pm

Anyone been up this route recently? Looks like a decent weather window and low avy for this weekend and contemplating giving it a go. The usual sources say the route is in "good shape" but looking for anything more specific.

EDIT: Also curious about avalanche gulch conditions for descent route.

Cheers,
Kai

A few of my friends will be on Green Butte this weekend. Should be in good condition, both of them. I like Green Butte a bit more myself, but both are good routes. Typical winter/spring conditions may involve some trail breaking, icy slopes, slopes with unconsolidated snow. Basically it varies! Whole route will not be the same all the way up (at least usually it isn't).
