First time using the new page editor, and I typed in all the fields, hit submit, and I got nothing :(

a problem i noticed while working on pages i recently adopted, if you work on a page too long, it seems to time out or something. i had the same problem you just described; inputting a bunch of data over a significant period of time, hitting submit, and then the page threw up all over itself.

i paged back, copied all the info i had just entered, opened the page completely anew, pasted all the data, and this time when i hit submit, it worked. that's happened to me a couple different times, on different pages.

Keep in mind that will not work if you use IE for a browser!

I like the new editor, but this is still the internet, so whenever I'm writing something a little bit longer, I first do so off line, as I did with the old editor. Whether it's a problem with the site, my internet connection or even my own computer, things can go wrong and I want to have a copy.

The main advantage of the new editor for me is that it's much easier to get the images where I want them, and in various sizes, not just the standard ones. Another improvement is that embedding maps works better and takes less HTML.

One more reason to stop using IE. I usually use Google Chrome and there it works fine.

The Fox (FireFox) will save your data, so if you lose it, just hit back! :D I tested it myself which works just fine.

I do -- chrome for most stuff, but ftp is still a lot easier through ie. And chrome updates to vastly buggy versions so often, that I often return to ie after chrome gives me pages of gibberish. The motto of Chrome users: it's flashier! Who cares if it is a bug-infested pile of sh*t!

FireFox is even flashier which is why I like it. But supposedly Chrome is faster.

Safari did this the other day to a buddy of mine the other day when using the editor. I guess Safari isn't quite up to speed in every aspect. :?

Yes, it does suck. I also learned the hard way. Write the page in word and then cut and paste.

PS, maybe this brand-new member can help:

I'm not rich enough to have Microsoft word. So instead I have cute little programs like Notepad. :ugeek: But Open Office works alright. But I use Notepad++ for coding. :)

Thanks, guys, I'll use Chrome from now on.

The only reason I use IE is that is all we have for work, so it's what I'm most familiar with.
