I'd be amazed at this point if Wheeler conditions are anything other than bone-dry. Smoke conditions should probably be your bigger concern. The area is still open, though, and hopefully the current weather conditions will mellow out New Mexico's fires.

Did you go? I'm going the first weekend in August and am curious how it is up there with all the recent rain.
