the best climbing magazine

Postby Strider » Mon Sep 23, 2013 11:29 am

hello ,
i was thinking about subscribing to one of the climbing magazines ,after seeing couple of "Alpinist" issues in some of the alpine huts in Europe this year .
what is the nicest magazine around? i really liked the quality of the pictures and the writers in Alpinist but maybe there is something else out there that i don know about?
im more into alpine stuff and mountaineering then rock climbing.

thanks.

I really, really like Alpinist. It features the best climbs, has the best writing and the best photography.

Yes, Alpinist. It is the best edited, with the best writing and the best quality of production to be found.

And it has increasingly been printing some very fine literary work: fiction, visual narrative and other inventive creative work.

There's also a case to be made that the American Alpine Journal of the Am. Alpine Club deserves a place on every climber's shelf. Subscription comes with membership in the AAC (along with Accidents in North American Mountaineering) or the AAJ can be bought alone.

Alpinist is a fantastic magazine, amazing photos and well written also very informative !

I also like Vertical especially the July-August issue with a brilliant 12 page piece about The Central Pillar of Freney`. Also the Legendary Messner routes in the Dolomites plus a `The golden granite spires of California` The Needles.

Fantastic...
