Best way to store a down suit (Himalayan suit)

by Tormod » Wed Oct 30, 2013 1:38 pm

What is the best way to store a down suit?

I just got a new TNF Himalayan suit and it only came in a plastic bag.
I'm looking for the best way to store and transport it (preferable a available product).
I was first thinking of a duffel bag but they are not breatable.

I would store it openly, hanging in the locker like a coat.
For storing it during traveling, I would use a big bag like you usually get for sleeping bags, there it can breath. When a high level of compression is needed for a short time like four or fife days, use a waterproof duffle bag or something of that like! Don't worry about the breathing for a short period, waterproofs comes first. But for long time sorrage use the locker as mentioned.

Thanks for the suggestions. Closet storage will not be available for some time. I have been looking for stuff sacks and other sleeping bag packs, but i have hard time finding somthing breathable. Suggestions to spesific producs would be great if anyone has any.

I'd love a pair of Scarpas for my cold feet but I'll have to wait to buy more, and they are one size to small for me.

Or a cotton sleeping bag storage sack. Like this one from REI.

Cotton pillow case and do NOT hang. My down lies flat under the bed

Dont use a pillow case for a suit it wont be big enough and will slightly compress the down, i would recommend a cotton or poly cotton sleeping bag liner and i would also store it under your bed, with nothing on top of it.
