budget belay jackets

by seb » Fri Nov 22, 2013 10:44 pm

As much as we all love our Arc'teryx, Patagonia, Feathered Friends and Black Diamond gear i am in need for a nice cheap warm synthetic belay jacket for my up coming trip to Scotland, I'm not after after somthing with a particularly good warmth to weight ratio or a super light weight construction, just somthing to keep me warm belaying also some warm trousers would be appreciated but for that i think i will end up going for a big brand for them.
Any help is appreciate.

hello seb,
i see you are from the UK and on a budget so not stop by at the biggest sport center and pick up something with a big off season discount?
the TNF redpoint is sometimes comes with a good price. Primaloft filled Jacket . good quality- the only thing i dont like about it that it always comes black. not a sexy color in the mountains.

I love the Outdoor Research Chaos. 170g/Primaloft One. Not sure if it's "budget" at $250 but not too unreasonable.

I'm surprised it doesn't get as much press as the Patagonia DAS actually.

If you're in the UK, try a Decathlon store.

Decent jacket but I don't think you can call $250 anywhere close to budget. Have you tried used? I've seen some pretty warm jackets online, here, ebay, even in a retail store sale, for $125 and under. I bet you could shave another 30% off that if you tried.
