The odds of you being attacked by a cougar are almost nonexistent in the Wasatch. Sure, there are plenty around, and they will watch you, but that is all. Look at the statistics of cougar attacks here over the last 100 years, think about it for a bit, and you will be fine. The only odds of a cougar attack are if they're rabid, protecting offspring, or if you get between them and kill stash, ...etc. Still... the odds are incredibly in your favor. You're more 1000 X more likely to die is a car crash on the way to or from the trail head than getting attacked by a cougar.

Have fun and be safe up there. The big issue with the Twins and other peaks in the Wasatch is talus and scree. If you have an issue the rescue index is really high, there are plenty of people around.
