Powdered Peanut Butter?

by tigerlilly » Fri Sep 10, 2010 4:15 pm

Has anyone tried powdered peanut butter?

I never heard of it before, but someone said it was good.

I love PB, so I'm curious.

Thoughts?

Powdered Peaunt Butter!!  Please tell me it isn't true!

Whether climbing, hiking, cycling, canoeing, fishing, etc., I never leave the pavement without PB. When plastic containers became available, I rejoiced :D Before that I happily carried the extra weight of a glass jar.

Yes. I am addicted.

Hmmm...

Bell Plantation Apparently makes this stuff.

Never tried it though. But they do make a chocolate version. Perhaps that can me get off my Nutella problem...

I had powdered peanut butter years ago... but regular peanut butter is probably higher in calories/gram, since it has little water and a lot of fat.

MoapaPk is right on. "our special process removes 85% of the fat calories"... Fat is about double the calories per gram of protein or carbs.

If they didn't remove almost all the fat, it wouldn't be a powder. I guess they're preserving most of the protein and carbs (and the fiber), and it's surely a perfectly fine thing to eat, but I hope it's *really* cheap. I don't see this as a product anybody would *want*, more as a way for peanut processors to get some use from the byproducts of making peanut oil.

I had some 42 years ago. It tasted fine, but I wondered why it existed.

85% less fat calories?!? I thought they were the whole point!
