Runner aged 100 completes the Marathon

1) A man aged 100 has completed the Marathon (26 miles)
2) A Canadian Completes an 11 year Walk around the globe covering 46,913 miles through N and S America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand

That is absolutely insane. Wasn't a good time, but I probably wouldn't do that when I am 60. I am going to remember that next time I hear someone bitching.

Truly amazing.
Makes me not feel quite so bad about being 44 and just getting into climbing, that's for certain.

Saw that article too. Great to see that is still possible with the human body if one has good genes and lives a healthy life. I'm nearing retirement and still hoping to be able to be active for a long time. Saw something on a tv science show on aging where some people have a gene they possible think allows them to age significantly slower. Am hoping I have that because I look younger than more than 95+% of my peers, am thin and wiry, and still have strong fluid balanced athletic skills. Climbing, hiking, and skiing have been a powerful activities to keep that so. An important thing I've promoted is as one gets older use it or lose it.

There was a great article in the NYT about octagenerian athletes in the last year or 2. Will try and find it.
