Ski-pole on wood

I'm going up-and-down a staircase to train, but the staircase is wood. I don't want to (and can't afford to) replace it. Is there something I can put on them to keep from destroying my staircase?
This might should be in "technique and training".

Southern Ontario

Anything to climb in the area? I know there's the stairs up Hamilton "mountain", but that's nothing. I'm wondering if there's any actual climbing of any sort.

I met a guy on Pinnacles/Emory Peak trail

on April 25th. We talked a lot about climbing. If you are here, and see this, please hit me up.

Re: Week hike in Adirondacks

I'd like to do some cold-weather camping. Not Denali cold, but sub-freezing. Mid 20's.

Re: 200 ft to 7800 ft (ish)

I made it. I made a mistake that only a half of a handful of people here have committed that caused me to spend another four hours. I also spilled my water. Thank you for your information. It was my first class 3 climb. Got some great views of the Chisos Mountains in the process.

Re: 200 ft to 7800 ft (ish)

I'm just wondering if it will make it easier to climb if I wait a day.

Emory Peak - Pinnacle trail

The"red tape" said that part of it will be closed for falcon nesting. Does that mean it's useless to take it to the summit?

200 ft to 7800 ft (ish)

I'm going to climb Emory Peak and I was wondering if I should spend a day acclimatizing in Chisos Basin. I know 7800 ft isn't going to give me AMS, but I'm wondering if it will make it a little easier to climb if I stay there a day.

I was talking guide about Mt Elbrus

I'm nervous about trying it. For one, it would cost $5,000 just for the guide, not including equipment, flight, insurance, etc. To go along with that, I've never been that high above sea level (except when flying which doesn't count). He said that if I can do Guadeloupe Peak then I can do Elbrus. I ...

Re: underrated

Some of these gym rats who make great athletes are afraid to go for a walk in the woods let alone climb a tall mountain. Most people don't like it because 99% of Mountain climbing is just boring walking. Yes, it certainly is. But winning that sport leads to views that you would NEVER see otherwise....

underrated

Is mountaineering underrated? Your opponent is nature. It's possibly the most physically demanding of all. You don't get a ring for success. You don't have sponsors. It's not on TV. It's funded by the people who do it. It's probably the only sport that is done on every continent. It, in my opinion, ...

Re: Denali Training

Nah, sounds to me like you're good to go. Book a flight and give it a shot. I'm going on 12/1. Gonna do a solo winter climb with no equipment, all because of you. Thanks for the confidence boost. But have your raised a petulant three year old child? That and climbing Rainier in winter are the two c...
