SEKI Camping Options

by Blair » Thu Jul 08, 2010 6:11 am

I recently have had a friend go up and get bit hard by the mountains. He wants to go back end of this month or early aug.

I have camped at lodgepole, and am familiar with the many fee campgrounds up in the area, but am looking for other ideas (preferably free) maybe out in mineral king, roads end, whatever. Im up for ideas.

Went to the SEKI page and couldnt find much in camping. Anyone with ideas or sugestions, I appreciate your help

There are many places you can pull out on the roadside, none in SEKI, but on the way to Road's End you are actually in Sequoia National Forest, not in the park, for much of the way between the entrance station and Kings Canyon itself. Dispersed camping is allowed and I'd recommend it.

Some pullouts let you get reasonably off the road, just keep an eye out. And some even have fire rings (there are a couple big ones in particular I remember just before you reenter the park. I've also seen folks camped at the Deer Cove Trailhead.

And I sent you a PM.
