in the past week or so, I have visited three different state highpoints (#38, #40, and #42) that are located within different time zones than the majority of their respective states... does anybody care to guess which they are? are there any other highpoints that fulfill this criteria that I may be overlooking?

florida's highpoint is in the central time zone, but most of the state is in the eastern time zone

texas's highpoint is in the mountain time zone, but most of the state is in the central time zone

most of michigan is in the eastern time zone, but a part of the upper peninsula is in the central time zone, although i am not sure which time zone the highpoint is in - this may be a potential fourth candidate, i'll have to check on that one

i also recently visited a highpoint in the eastern time zone that represents a state primarily within the central time zone... that would be tennessee

come to think of it, looks like south dakota, nebraska, north dakota, and perhaps kansas all have highpoints in the mountain time zone even though the states are mostly within the central time zone

hopefully tomorrow i'll get a chance to bust out my road atlas and determine which highpoints officially make the list

According to http://www4.wittenberg.edu/academics/hf ... ticle.html Utah (Kings) is easier than Idaho (Borah). Same gain, but Kings is longer, at about 29 miles.

You might want to post something in Plans and Partners. I'm game for Kings over Borah, depending on date and one/two day.

Thank you good sir!! My legs are going to hate me for awhile. One more and I'm finally halfway. I only did one high point last year :( I wish I did more on the east coast before moving

What would you rank your top 3 most difficult? I noticed you've done Elbert, Kings, and Wheeler. I've done Elbert, and am consider Kings *or* Wheeler next.

Probably those 3 so far. I wasn't to acclimitized for elbert or wheeler. I climbed Audubon which is a 13er out here sat and had no problem, but once I got to the dollar lake are at kings on thurs I started struggling but I was also rushing trying to make good time which probably hurt my acclimitizing. Kings and wheeler are fun. I don't recommend kings in a day. Glad my death march is done. I say I felt the most accomplished when I did kings. Once you get to the mountain it's an awesome climb. I should of done humphries peak 2 years ago but due to construction I couldn't get an early start and decided my to. Honorable mention to harneys peak. Hotoven, knoback, and I did a mini alpine route up harneys peak. That was sweet and way more crazy then the regular trail. I hiked mt Mitchell in the rain.

Just did Elbert today, wonderful hike. I'm glad I live at 9,100 feet, or else it would have kicked my butt.

Glad to see you back here Doogie, will have to hook up sometime and nail some back-country 13ers!
