Two die on Snowdon

We are getting a real winter in the UK this year, (2008/9).

Sadly it is claiming lives. Two more yesterday. On Snowdon.

It's well worth watching the Interview with the mountain rescue guy. Balanced and sensible comments from him.

The mention of an avalanche risk is interesting. I wasn't aware snow depths could get to that level in Wales. I'm back there next week and will take great care where I walk: although Snowdon in winter again is still top of my list.

Bryan avalanches can happen anywhere in the mountains. A snow slide is one but on a small scale.

Quite an interesting article posted on UKClimbing today about the recent accidents on Snowdon. The opinion of the writer seems to be that people are losing respect for the dangers winter conditions pose, and are thus increasingly coming into trouble.

At your peril!

The avalnche risk has gone up to 4 here in Bavaria - it don´t get no worse - or nearly, I wouldn´t want to be on the hill when it´s 5....
