Especially for non-climbers. Does it mean technical difficulties? What kind? Should there be used some climbing gear? Would be better if these paths were transformed to via ferratas?
When I see a trail with red dots on a Tabacco map, I expect a difficult hiking trail, but apart from solid footware, I don't bring any special gear for it. However, when I see a trail made up of red crosses, I would ask locally if I would want to know what to expect.
Without further information, it can be anything from an exposed hiking trail with a few bits of iron to a full blown via ferrata. If it is the latter, or in case I don't know, I would bring my via ferrata set. For trails near a refuge, you can call the refuge to ask about it.
