State park in the NW corner of North Carolina. Several good trail within the park. Excellent views of the valley, the Sauratown Mountains and Hanging Rock State Park. There are several good trails in the park ranging from easy to hard. There are actually 2 segments of the park with each segment offering many opportunities for fun.

It is possible to do horse back riding on some of the trails or canoe on the Yadkin river.

Getting There

Take US 52 west from Winston Salem to the town of Pilot Mountain. Directions to the park are well indicated.

Red Tape

The park can fill very fast on the week-ends and parking is limited. Once all spaces are full no entry to the park is permitted.

When to Climb

Climbing in not permitted on the pinnacle. You can hike around the base of the pinnacle. There some special areas where you can do some rock climbing.

Camping

There is a nice campground in the park.

Might work better as an album

There is already a mountain/rock page for Pilot Mountain. You might consider doing an album instead.
