Pinnacle Glacier Area

Pinnacle Glacier Area

This is taken from the Pinnacle Glacier which as best as we could tell is probably not much of a glacier anymore. Snow covered it but it clearly has little depth to it and aside from a few steeper remnants on the upper end it is probably just a glorified snowfield. Or...perhaps there were crevasses and we were just lucky. Our route headed for the little snow bump near the ridge about a third of the way from the right edge of the pic just below the middle of that cloud. From there we scampered up to the ridge and that put us at about 8300' when we entered the Kingdom of Rocks. You might be able to gain the ridge even further left and thus spend less time on it but I think our route is the way to go as the going to the left would have exposed you to rockfall. Lots of rockfall.
