Plenty of room to camp in Quebrada Cayesh

The end of the line for hikers, and base camp for several mountains. I'm here to climb one of the easier ones around, Nevado Maparaju. Pick your spot to put up your tent! For the record, I was told to take water from one of the many waterfalls coming off the slopes of San Juan, on the south side of the valley, and so I did. The water in the stream running down the center of the valley apparently has a foul taste to it. I didn't even try it. 16 June 2011.
