Climbed this one this evening for the geocache and the summit log. I approached the summit in shade from the East and reached the summit at sundown. Luckily I had my flashlight with me for the decent back to the truck. Enjoyed the sunset and moonrise from what felt like another world on top of 5833.
Weeds, Brian and I climbed Cross Trainer (5.7) on the Checkerboard Wall, then scrambled the rest of the way to the two summits. The climb was great, bolts and belays notwithstanding, and the weather was perfect. This is the perfect time of year to climb and hike in Southern New Mexico.
After summiting Dona Ana Peak I headed back to the saddle and decided to make the climb over to 5833. The direct path up turned out to be pretty sporty, but it was a fun climb and I made it back to the vehicle w/o much trouble.
"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."
