Fascinating stuff Liba!

Interesting to see a bit of rock-climbing in the Czech Republic - but what a novel idea to create metal free nuts... I shall have to have a go at making a 'monkey's fist'! Could be the odd circumstance where it could be a potentially life-saving trick to be able to pull off - thanks for sharing it.
best wishes, Mark

Great information!

Great page Liba. I never knew about these KinderKopfs you mention. Looks like a stout ball/knot. With places like this that don't allow metal/chalk, it's always cool to see how climbers overcome the restrictions. This is a good example.

I had to really scour the pictures to see the sandstone. From a first glance, it doesn't look it. In some ways, this area reminds me of Veedawoo up in Wyoming...minus the great trails.

The guy you talked to (& linked) has a decent 8.000m profile!

Re: Great information!

thanks Kiefer… we climbed with a guy (old man who showed us around, and drank 2-3 beers for breakfast) who made his own climbing shoes from soccer shoes, and sewed his own harness - pretty interesting….
