Presented to the United States by the Government of Italy, the rock that this plaque is affixed to was brought here from Mt. Belvedere. It is dedicated to the men of the US 10th. Mountain Division, who fought a battle on Mt. Belvedere during World War II.

Book about the 10th Division

The LAST RIDGE by Mckay Jenkins, is an excellent book about the story of the US Army's 10th Mountain Division and the Assault on Hitler (Mt. Belvedere and the Riva Ridge)
