English Teacher says:

That's Kor (not Kore). As in Layton Kor, the tall dude who first bolted his way up the roof back in the 60's. And if you thought the bolts were a tad reachy, consider this: Layton only placed two (there are four now).

Matt Wilder freed the roof recently. That's pretty mind boggling.

Re: English Teacher says:

Yes, that is pretty sick that Matt W freed that roof. My bad on the spelling...I should have remembered that after reading the story of Layton's ascent on El Cap in Galen Rowell's recent book.

Re: English Teacher says:

I climbed the Kor Roof again on Saturday. I noticed a new bolt to the left of the line, presumably placed for the free variation. You know, looking at the available holds, for just a minute there, I could almost see myself freeing it... then I stepped up in my aiders, clipped the next bolt, and hung on my daisy.

I understand

that Layton Kor became one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and gave up climbing.
