| A few days before, my friends had arrived in the Alps, coming from The Netherlands. Back in 2010, I had been in the area before and I vividly remembered the beautiful views of the Ortler, Monte Zebru and Königspitze. That year we climbed the Madritschspitze, this time we choose the easier Schöntaufspitze. Unfortunately, the clouds obscured the highest summits, and the views were not all that impressive this time. I reckoned that taking the cable care would make it too easy, so I hiked from Sulden and back. | ||

| Easy trip from Sulden cable car station. The path is very easy and there are fantastic views at the Ortler, Konigspitze, Cevedale and Sulden. | ||

| Very nice summit, nice views at the Ortler, Köningspitze, Cevedale ...! Nice but indeed cold peak due to strong winds. | ||

| A friend and me tried Schöntaufspitze but failed because of running out of time... We said to us, lets go up Schöntaufspitze before driving to a beach holiday. We stood up at about 3am drove the 350km from Munich to Solda raced up to Schaubachhütte and up to Madritschjoch. After about 3.5h we arrived there standing nearly in the clouds (and quite exhausted). We turned back, raced down to Solda again and started driving to the beach ;-) I' ll never do such an ULTRA-QUICK-ASCENT/DESCENT again... ;-) | ||

| My first peak over 3000 meter. A wonderful experience but also a sign of the big changes of our world. I could the the loss of ice and snow iin the higher mountains within 10 years. | ||

| It was one of my first trips to a higher mountain. In this year with my (at this time little) children. The view to Ortler, Zebru and Königsspitze is not better on another place!!! | ||

| 1. September 25th 1987 Nice hiking from the cablecar to Schaubach / Citta di Milano hut via Vordere Schoentaufspitze. Perfect weather, nice views, but I did not like the descent directly through the area of the ski lifts that don't look fine in summer. 2. June 15th 1990 We stayed some days at the Zufall hut in the upper Martell valley. There was still a lot of snow but climbing Schöntaufspitze was possible. It's a beautiful calm landscape on the Martell / Martello side, but not so spectacular than the Sulden / Solda side | ||

| Took the short ascent from Sulden / Solda via cablecar to Schaubachhütte. In the Cablecar we met an old man who started telling us "young folk" about old times in the area. He took the trail to the next hut only to enjoy the views and have a perfect day. We on the other hand scrambled along the ski hills toward Madritschjoch / Passo Madriccio. From there on along a moderately exposed ridge (I at most) towards the summit. We had strong northeasterly winds and had problems enjoying the views. Until we found a little nook were we could hide away from the winds (and the other 30 summiteers). A short climb on a great day! | ||
