After descending Mt Lincoln yesterday via Quartzville Creek, we spoke with a very friendly local landowner who informed us of a large swath of private property (15 acres) surrounding the winter trailhead. The routes shown on the map are public, but the land south of Quartzville Creek near the road is private. Basically if you are below treeline (in the pine forest) and are near Quartzville Creek, you are on their land unless you are on the summer road. Restated: everything on the south and west side of the road that leads to the higher parking lot (covered in winter, but still obvious) is private. Please stay off private land as these landowners have an active voice in mountain access.
