| Quick walk from parking under Puy. When we reach summit, here comes a cloud, so we cant enjoy panorama. Interesting museum was build at he top. | |

| Is it an advisable climb? yes Is it a nice volcano? yes When a mountaineer see the peak from Clermont-Ferrand... he want to climb it? yes Is it important the existence a road to the summit? no. Is it ugly the antenna of the summit? yes. This peak was a perfect start for our holidays in the volcanos d'Auvergne with the climb of another most important summits as Puy de Sancy, Plomb de Cantal, Puy Mary,... but the short walk-up to the summit of Puy de Dôme is very advisable even for mountaineers because it's a mytical and nice mountain. | |

| We had not scheduled to attempt Puy de Dôme that day, it was supposed to have been reserved for our final day in the area, but the fine weather put us on the trail. We were rewarded with fine views and an extremely nice afternoon hike. | |
