Ragged Mountain Firetower

View through the floor of the Ragged Mountain Fire Tower in 1961. A guy spent his summer up there with binoculars and an orientation table of sorts trying to spot fires before they got out of hand. He entertained us with the story of the moose and the telegraph wire. He said that on the road to Ragged Mtn. he once found a moose whose horns were entangled in the telegraph wire. He tried to help, but the moose charged but was stopped when the telegraph wire came taut. The moose somersaulted and one hoof punched past the fire warden's ear. That was enough for one day.
