Rainier Summit

Rainier Summit

Well, I made it. ~ 6:45 am on 8/5/2012. True, if I had walked another 100 yards to the south along the west rim, I would have *technically* been at the summit, but by this point I figured this was "close enough". By now I was starting to feel the altitude, and was ready to descend. I'd been up for about 24 hours by this time. Earlier, when we stopped at the top of the Disappointment Cleaver (around 3am), and the guide said we were at ~ 13,000', I knew then I'd make the summit. I was not tired, wasn't having any breathing difficulty, nor was I experiencing any typical altitude problems.
