Rapagna Lagoon almost at 16,000 ft is a classic day hike 3 hours from Lima. If you happen to be in Lima this is a good choice for a sweet adventure to be done in one day.

At your own risk

The sea level to 4550 or 5000 (depending on the route) is brutal. 1 day is feasible but sleeping in San Mateo is better specially if you don't know your response at this elevation
