Red Flower

Red Flower

A red flower very near Nettle Ridge and not far from High Knob along the Loyalsock Trail. Nettle Ridge is very aptly named. A rainstorm had created a wetness throughout the area right before we made camp and by the next morning it had not dried. We continued to hike on, getting soaked by the choked trail due to nettles, weeds, and other plants. Our legs became very itchy as well, since that is what nettles do. The dew can be seen on the flower. This flower is an Oswego-tea and identification credits go to mrh. (August 3, 2008)

Red Flower Identification

Just saw this and your request for an identification. Its Oswego-tea (Monarda didyma), a member of the mint family.

Re: Red Flower Identification

Thanks for your help in identifying my flower pics. I would really like to learn more about plants and be able to better identify them. And your pics of the flowers from the Allegheny National Forest are great as well. You have a great knowledge of plant life. Thanks again.
