Amazing mountain and a beautiful contrast with green.
But well... after all, in spanish, colorado = red (curious!).
Why is the color? Ferrous mineral?

There is indeed high iron (ferrous) content, and it also is rich in other minerals. Much of the area near Red Mountain Pass was heavily mined and many mines are preserved.

Thanks! This is probably even more colorful right now with the aspen in prime.
