Impromptu red climb
Quick little walk up on a windy day. Parked 1.5 miles out from the gate. Looking to come back and finish the highlands ridge for all three peaks soon. Caught the last of the snow off a September storm too .

Big Red One
One of 3 Red Mountains near where I live in Montana. I've climbed it a few times. Very high reward for little effort. So Silver Bow county beats Lewis and Clark county (2x) in that arena.

Nice Ridge
Started at the 8900' gate. Up Red, over Monument and off to Table. Super cool ridge. Lots of views for relatively little work.

smoky!
had a successful climb of Red and continued over the ridge to Table Mtn. Unfortunately the ID wildfire smoke really blew in on my hike, so my respiratory system played a big part in the adventure. Pretty impressive area with great access; I parked below the lookout gate and was above timberline in minutes. Started after work at 1645 and finished in 4 hours - and in total darkness.

snowy road
Must do hike if your around Butte. Lots of snow on the road, had to park in the clearing at the bottom. Much easier when you can get to the end of the road, been up there many times since, good workout.

Standard Trail
Hiked over Red Mountain on my way back from Table Mountain. Beautiful day.

Tried to get to the summit of Red Mountain today but had to turn around about 400 vertical feet from the top because of very high winds. I was crawling on my hands and knees when I got blown over by a large gust of wind. At that point I decided to turn back. Even though I did not make it the top I was still pleased with my accomplishment being that it has only been six weeks since I had surgery to reconstruct my ACL. Anyway another great day up in the mountains.
