It was a long-forgotten fall-into-a-crevasse experience all over again when a man-eating hole opened under my skis as I was breaking trail up East Notch. The skis dangled in the void and I held on by the elbows. I don't think it was nearly as deep as glacier fissures but I wasn't inclined to check.
