Relics of the Recent Past

Relics of the Recent Past

Located next to the Afon Camddwr in the Cambrian Mountains, this former telephone box is now slowly becoming part of the historic landscape. It once served the remote scattered farms of the Elenydd but now the privatisation of British Telecom and the rise of the mobile phone have rendered it obsolete. The post box next to it is still in use, though with the recent privatisation of the Royal Mail and the increased use of email and other electronic forms of communication its useful life is probably limited. Photo taken 2013.
