Rock Gardens

Though this area is quite hot and dry, in the spring ample moisture creates this rock gardens in the draws. Most of what is seen here is the common yellow monkeyflower, Mimulus gutattus. There are three other yellow monkeyflowers that grow here, but they are all rare. June 2009
