Liba Kopeckovanice autumn day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 1, 2013

Liba Kopeckova

Started at rico-silverton trail, went up past South Park, continued for about 1/2 miles past South Park and right before a creek drainage took the steep scree slope facing south up (awful section, rock avalanches), reached the east facing ridge and continued on the ridge towards the summit - there was some class 3 scrambling around, I had to lift up Duchess many times. Lovely summit.
Down via SW route - visible path, much easier, only class 2, longer, but definitively a lot easier route.

Ugh. Based on the summit log, the NE ridge is a fun climb, but this was scree hell until I got to the crest. Continued to "V 9" and down the trail from the pass to Hope Lake to make a nice loop of it.

Quick hike hike if you can drive to the trailhead. Classic San Juan talus and some willows to deal with. Very good views

Climbed up a rather interesting headwall (class 4) to gain the southeast ridge. Would have been an easier route if I stayed in the drainage longer, but the extra spice made it more fun. Combo with "V9".

When viewed from the north or east, one wonders how it got such an unfitting name - it looks quite dramatic and not at all "rolling". Climbed from the Bandora Mine via the Rico-Silverton Trail, broad southeast drainage, and south ridge. Plenty of San Juan scree and talus. Finished up the day with Twin Sisters East and West.

Climbed the basin to the SE of the summit. Cold winds, but nice area, and no people.
