Probably my last summit for 2012. Drove up into Cloudcroft from Carlsbad with 2 friends. There was about 5 inches of snow on the ground. We used the route described on the "getting there" page and hiked up Corral Canyon. It was beautiful in the snow!
Easy pair of highspots to pick off. Nice scenery - I agree, it does look like something you'd see in PA or VA. Enjoyed walking around Cloudcroft afterwards.
Living in Las Cruces I seem to forget that it actually snows in some places. After driving down some snow covered roads I was able to hike through the snow to both of the possible highpoints.
