Potential primary photo

Hi Vid! I am happy to see Sadovnikov vrh on SP! Though it is really an insignificant mountain, for some years I keep it on my wish list. Not on my wish list of big dreams but on my realistic wish list. (You know, the Kamnik Alps is the nearest real mountain area to my home.) I haven't been on the top of Sadovnikov vrh yet, but a few weeks ago I was lucky to take a good photo about this mountain, showing its whole mass. It might be a good primary photo for the SP page of Sadovnikov vrh
Cheers, Szani

Re: Potential primary photo

Hi Szani! Yes, you are right. Your picture is nicely showing the whole mountain - it even looks a bit impressive :)

Thanks for adding it! It's a signature picture now. Wish you to come soon in this area again :)

Cheers!
Vid

Re: Potential primary photo

Hi Vid! You wished for me to go to this area again. Now I am just planning the next trip with 2 friends - for this weekend. The planned program for Saturday would be travelling from Pécs and summitting either Jerebikovec or Ferlacher Horn. The planned program for Sunday would be to summit Storžič - and travelling home. My friends' preference is to find a wild campsite. But I know good places only around Raduha and Ojstrica, not here. Don't you know any appropriate site on the line Mojstrana-Kranj-Tržič? Cheers, Szani

Re: Potential primary photo

Hi Szani!

Hm? I'm never camping so close to home. But it should be easy to find a quiet place. From where are you intending to ascend Storzic? If from the north (I recommend that), then it's best to drive past Trzic and into the valley of Lom (below Storzic north face). At the end of the road there is a mountain hut - you just avoid being close to it. Just park somewhere before reaching it, on some side cart road, and find an appropriate meadow. because it will be Saturday/Sunday night, people will be going to the hut, so perhaps set up a tent only when night falls.

Otherwise, coming down from Ferlacher Horn (Jerebikovec is abit less attractive, it's overgrown - but there along the road you can camp as well, only not close to the border, where Austrians are now controlling for refugees), you will drive over Ljubelj/Loibl pass. Before reaching Trzic you can also find a side road and some meadow near it. Also on the Austrian side of Ljubel/Loibl pass you can find nice places. For example - driving into Bodental (past Windisch Bleiberg). There are remote, nice places.

Cheers!

Re: Potential primary photo

Vid, I expected that you don't camp near your home :-) I would have been in trouble if I got the same question... Anyway thanks for the advices! I plan to ascend Storžič on the Žrelo route and descend on the Škarjev rob route. They look to be easy routes with some fun. I didn't decide between Jerebikovec and Ferlacher Horn yet. Both are on my "to do" list. I have the impression, too, that Jerebikovec is not so impressive. But it is the 17th most prominant mountain of Slovenia. It is more prominent than Krn or Storžič! And Jerebikovec is quickly accessible due to its proximity to the highway. So it has some advantages despite Ferlacher Horn looks to be more beautiful. But whatever I will decide on, I will try to find a quiet spot for the tent. If no success, then we will go to an official camping. The weather will be very nice. I suppose you have some plans for the weekend, too... Cheers, Szani

Re: Potential primary photo

Szani, I still have no plans yet. With my Jasmina we might have some other obligations, but perhaps we'll also find some time for a shorter trip.
Best,
Vid
