The Salmo Mountain Lookout Tower, found near the northeastern corner of Washington in Pend Oreille County.
The Salmo Mountain Lookout is one of the highest-elevation lookout buildings in Washington, and the northeasternmost one in the State.
This lookout tower was built during 1964 and is a 10' treated timber tower with a R-6 flat cab. Since 1972, the tower has only been used for fire-watching during emergencies, and the U.S. Border Patrol has been known to periodically use the site to watch for illegal border crossings and other activities.
