Salmo Mountain Lookout

Salmo Mountain Lookout

The Salmo Mountain Lookout Tower, found near the northeastern corner of Washington in Pend Oreille County. The Salmo Mountain Lookout is one of the highest-elevation lookout buildings in Washington, and the northeasternmost one in the State. This lookout tower was built during 1964 and is a 10' treated timber tower with a R-6 flat cab. Since 1972, the tower has only been used for fire-watching during emergencies, and the U.S. Border Patrol has been known to periodically use the site to watch for illegal border crossings and other activities.
