| I hiked the trail to the intersection of 254 and 251 with a friend, we camped there for the night, and got rained on all night. The next morning we hiked to the top of Santa Fe Baldy, there were tons of clouds so we didn't get any of the views at the top. Then we hiked back down to the ski basin. | ||

| Camped at 11K in the meadows the night before. Forecast was for 37 it was more like 27. After thawing out the next day we hit the summit with the dogs came back down broke camp and hiked what seemed like forever to the car. Overall a great area. | ||

| Winter climb from Santa Fe Ski Area TH. One of my local favorites: did it dozens of times in all seasons. Nice hike: great weather, great views of Pecos and Jemez Mountains! | ||

| Started at 11:00 am. Back to the car at 3:30 pm. Nice views from the top (3,847 m/12,622 ft). The trail was fully covered by snow up to Santa Fe Baldy foothills. Total Round Trip time 4 hours 30 minutes. I loved being up there!! | ||

| Winter ascent in 2000 (?). A big storm of the day prior dumped about 2 feet of fresh powder for us to break through. Gorgeous ! No tracks in front of us, just virgin powder. Tiring though. | ||

| Got a late start and had to hustle to the top by 11:30am and off quickly to avoid the thunderstorm. Took our time once back in the forest. | ||

| StumblingBear | OLD FAVORITE ![]() | |
| My brother and I climbed Baldy from Lake Kathrine the first time some where around 1974. In 1992 I was leading llama packing trips into the Pecos Wilderness and every other wednesday that July and August we ate our lunches on the summit of Santa Fe Baldy. The route was up a ridge to the south of the summit. | ||

| Exact date something of a guess. Most memorable was a Feb 1983 climb in a total whiteout, when 18" snow fell as we climbed. Had to dig out the snow caves on return. We had left a shovel pointing out from the top of the caves, anticipating this need; and someone had come by and borrowed the shovel to dig his own caves. He had put the shovel back -- inside one of our caves! | ||

| Great hike with perfect weather allowed my wife, little one and I to spend the better part of the sunlit day en route, on the summit and back. Well traveled, but quite a bit of 'trail magic' about. | ||

| Snowshoed up Saturday, lots of snow. I was breaking trail past Puerto Nambe. Started at 6:50, summited at about 1:00, back to the car at 6:15. Windy and very cold on the summit, not bad lower down. There's way more snow on the east face than on the side visible from town. | ||

| Snowshoed up just after a good snowfall. The forest was so quiet - the snow just deadend any noises. Once out of the trees, it was sunny and calm. Wish I'd had skis. | ||

| We got to the trailhead at 8:30 am, made the summit at 2:30 pm, and got back to the car at 6:30 pm. There was a lot of snow under the trees and only small patches above treeline and on the ridge to the summit. The grey jays were friendly and the weather was nice. It was cloudy and the only spot where it became very cold was at the summit. Only saw one other person on the trip. | ||

| There was hardly any snow of mention on this route at all. However the ice sheets were an obstacle. I found crampons to be very helpful, though I did see tracks going out of the way in order to go around these sections. Weather was great, but with the wind on top it was very cold above treeline. | ||

| Very pleasant, warm day. There was no snow above treeline, and the trail was packed hard all the way. The only obstacle we encountered of any kind were some pretty big ice sheets covering the trail in a couple spots. Based on current conditions, I'd say any peak in the Pecos (maybe in the the N.M. Sangres) is climable right now. | ||

| Busy summit that day. Great views in all directions. First (now) documented ascent of the peak by a Catahoula Cur Dog. First documented incident of a gooey-Catahoula surprise left on the west face during decent. | ||
