| Summited in a shade over 3 hours and sadly the register was too wet to sign. Interesting weather day as the high overcast turned to brief sunshine (thankfully while I was summiting both peaks) which turned to cloud shrouded summits. Fantastic views of the SoCal big 3 and 7th CA COHP which I'm tackling at a snails pace. | ||

| We started over by Blue Jay Campground and took North Main Divide Road up. We tagged Los Pinos, an unnamed peak, Trabucco Peak, and then up the Holy Jim to Santiago Peak. We couldn't see anything on the top due to the fact that weather rolled in...a bummer, but at least we had views from the other peaks. We were going to try and make it to Modjeska, but we ran out of time. We rode down the Holy Jim into Trabucco Canyon. We rode around 25 miles total. Great day!! | ||

| Drove Trabuco Canyon all the way to the trailhead behind the fire station. Took the Holy Jim Trail to Modjeska and Santiago Peak. Beautifully maintained trail and some fire roads to the top. Old Goats Mountain Race (50 mile) happened to be that day. | ||

| Some big mud holes forced me to park a mile before the trail head. A higher clearance car would have had no problem. I dunked my left foot in one of the stream crossings not long after starting. There were a few patches of snow above 5000 feet. A nice layer of clouds filled in all the valleys down below. 3 hours up and 2.5 down. | ||

| Hiked with my college buddy Josh on a warm, sunny and relatively unsmoggy day. After (barely) reaching the TH in a passenger car, we hiked Holy Jim to the top in 3 1/2 hours. Hardest part was definitely Upper Holy Jim between the road segments. Views on top were incredible, to the three Saints, downtown LA, and the ocean. The hike down took us 2:45, plus a 20 minute side trip to the falls (well worth it, IMHO). My second CA COHP, and a great introduction to the mountains of the area! | ||

Ran the inaugural Twin Peaks 50K marathon. First up Modjeska then over to Santiago. Summit at 16 miles, turned around and ran back down. | ||

| Tracy | from Trabuco Peak - CA cohp #9 ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 11, 2008 | |
| Twenty of us started hiking the North Main Divide Truck Trail (the gate was locked at the intersection of the Indian Truck Trail) down and up from the base of Trabuco Peak. I found the summit register in the two tin cans nested together. No vehicles along the entire route except for three service trucks on top. My daughter, Tori and Aleeza Gonzalez hiked with me to the last big switchback where the top of the Upper Holy Jim Trail intersects the road. On the way down they hiked Upper Holy Jim Trail down while I jogged the road in case others from our larger group were still coming up. Trevor Neilsen had driven down to the closed gate and he gave me a ride up to Tabuco Peak where I was parked. For those wanting a bite to eat in the area, don't miss Hell's Kitchen biker bar on the Ortega Highway. It was the first place we found to give 15 teenaged girls a place to buy a soda and use the restroom. From the discussions I overheard they won't forget it anytime soon :). | ||

| Been up to the summit more than a dozen times and 100 times that in my dreams. This mountain is a great place to train, have fun and reminds us of bigger peaks to come. Here is one story. | Mountain bike race on this day. Made the hike interesting to say the least. Nothing like diving in to the brush to avoid getting run over. The radio towers on the summit make for a less than natural climax. Probably won't return. | ||

| I went to go visit my brother in Corona, CA, and, of course, one of the most important things in planning to come visit him is to look for a nice little mountain in the area to hike. There are some beautiful views on the hike up, it kinda is a bummer seeing all the satellite equipment up at the top, but I guess people have to have their cell phone access... | ||

| A nice hike via Holy Jim and Joplin trails. Climbed Modjeska as well. Perfect weather, some snow above 5000 ft. The firebreak cleared during recent fires across Modjeska was a bit of an eye sore, as were all the towers on Santiago. Here are my GPS tracks, elevation profile, Google Map and some photos. Note: Had no issues driving my low clearance Honda Civic to the Holy Jim Trailhead. Took it slow and easy. The large puddles are intimidating but easy to bypass. Need to be careful to avoid large rocks. | ||

| What a slog on a hot day. Enjoyed the wild fresh figs growing over the Falls. From the Great Divide on it got nice. The summit, however, was humming with microwave radiation and we didn't stay long. Signed the log up top. Good views all around. | ||

| The gate at the Silverado trailhead is open so I drove to the top of Maple Springs Road. The road is in good condition and an average compact car can make it. The upper gate is locked. | ||
