The only thing we have to fear...is fear itself! Seriously, the first day I snowboarded, I totally hated it. Course I've been boarding for 18 years since (wow!). Give it another try! Also, instead of snowshoeing (you don't need to 'learn' anything to do this, & I'd just recommend doing it in a bind), give cross-country skiing a try instead!

Re: The only thing we have to fear...I tried to echo FDR's words in my mind as my buddy took me for my first run (ever) on one blue run on the tall mountain. My wrist guards looked like a bendy straw by the end of the painful day. One yellow jacket said he was "concerned" when he saw me. :-) Maybe you're right though...It's also fun hiking with crampons, I've found. It doesn't involve speed. Thanks for the encouragement Diggler. :-)
