A long day for late October Date Climbed: Oct 20, 2010
The ascent to this peak is pretty intuitive, provided you A) know where you're going, and B) are comfortable off trail. We checked out the ridge option, and opted for skirting around the south east side of the ridge. It's pretty straightforward from upper Thunder Mountain lake- stay as high as the easy terrain allows until the final slope, and then ascend. The last scramble is dicey in spots, with some exposure, but it isn't much to worry about. 9 hours 45 minutes car to car.
"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."
